The Craft — cloisonné enamel

Ancient art, made today.

A gold wire is bent by hand into the contours of each artistic element. Powdered vitreous enamel is carefully applied to the cloisonné sections. The piece is then fired at the red heat of the kiln. After cooling, the polishing reveals the complex yet delicate art of millennium-old craftsmanship.
